Considered one of the top listed perfumes of the wealthy, Joy Perfume is the costliest of all fragrance when it was created in 1925 and first released in 1929 ironically in contradiction to the Wall Street Crash. Still revered today for its impeccable quality and oil concentration, Jean Patou has revolutionized the way floral scents are created. It has since then been a standard to all Jean Patou fragrances to reach greater heights and uncompromised taste in luxury.

Prior to the most famous Joy perfume's release, two other fragrances were released. One of which is Adieu Sagesse in 1925. Of the Chypre Floral group, this scent opens with neroli, narcissus, bergamot, lily and black currant. Its middle notes are jasmine, carnation and tuberose while the base is of vetivir and musk. At the same year, Amour Amour was also released under the floral group. Top notes include neroli, bergamot, wild strawberry and lemon then followed with a floral carnation, lily, lilac, orris root, ylang-ylang, jasmine, narcissus and rose. The base is comprised of honey, civet, vetiver, heliotrope and musk.

There have been many other fragrances that have been released under the Jean Patou name and have lived up to the expectations of its loyal clientele. After the success of Joy and other fragrances, Ma Liberte was released in 1987 as an oriental floral fragrance. Opening with citrus notes and heliotrope; heart of lavender, jasmine, rose and cloves and base with sandalwood, spicy nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla and blends with vetivir, cedar, patchouli and musk.

In 1972, 1000 by Jean Patou hit the market with its floral scent. With help from Jean Kerleo, notes are a concoction of different notes from top to base. Opposing that of Joy Perfume's simple and elegant scent, 1000 is elaborate and is a smorgasbord of different notes. It opens with coriander, green notes, bergamot and tangerine. At the heart is jasmine, iris, violet, Chinese osmanthus, lily, geranium and rose while the bottom notes are of sandalwood, musk, patchouli, amber, civet, oakmoss and vetiver.

Fast forward to the 21st century and you have Sira des Indes. One of the more modern approach of Jean Patou, it contains oriental woodsy notes in total contrast to the famous Joy Perfume. However old-fashioned it is, Jean Patou has not missed to keep its stride side by side with other modern fragrances. Sira des Indes contains banana, red berries, pear, bergamot and cardamom on top, sinks to a floral ylang-ylang at the heart and caps it off with a sandalwood, musk, vanilla and amber base.

Through the years, there have been may other perfumes that the House of Jean Patou has created. With his most recent creation, Sira des Indes released in 2006, has kept up with the changing times and still maintained the elite status that Joy perfume has started.
